Li Peng, a lecturer from the Foreign Languages Department of CPU, has got his B. A. from Jilin University and his M. A. from Shandong University. In his graduate years, he mainly studied the thoughts of a Canadian philosopher Northrop Frye, and, because what he studied has a profound connection with Chinese philosophy, he also read some of Liang Shuming’s works and those of other Chinese philosophers, which inspired him and opened for him a gold mine which should have opened for him long before. From then on, though he read much of Shakespeare, Tagore, his interest was turned to the way of life depicted in Classics by ancient Indians and Chinese.
